f. 73r の上部には後の筆跡で「Lre Cyphered from ye Q. with the decifer」と記されている。

∂ɼϕz qesqsϕf」= it … bein proposit を与え、これは解読の書き出し「it had bein proposit to me」と一語一語一致する。

it had bein proposit to me to consent that my sone suld be deliverit in ⟨E⟩ handis and that it was not necessair that ye lord Heris, Kilwinning and otheris that thai cal of the Hamiltonnis faction suld mel thairwyth, and to that thai inserit name bot me, the lord Lennox ⟨¥⟩ and otheris of my name; and to draw me in that crafty snair thai mak thame to be meik in maner that thair angre war past, seikand me to apointment.
(C)。「spokin to me in ⟨Ꝗ⟩ name … to schaw hir」の ⟨Ꝗ⟩ もおそらくエリザベスである(M)。
- ⟨B⟩ ⟨p⟩ ⟨sp⟩ はフランスとスペインで、Bain の推測であり、後の「to Fr and to Sp」によって裏づけられる(C)。
⟨X⟩ は人物か場所が意図される箇所に繰り返し現れる(「as to ⟨X⟩ I sal wryt」「munitioun to ⟨X⟩」)。
