01 葉
f. 32（旧 9）は、Throckmorton がエリザベスに宛てた自筆の署名入りの手紙で、彼の最初のアルファベットによる暗号が16行ある。結びの署名の下と横には、小さな筆記体の記号が約12行、日付の行、そして「*」の印が付いた3行のまとまりがあり、その印は手紙の13行目にある星印に対応している。f. 33（旧 10）は、Throckmorton からセシルへの1559年8月8日付の手紙である（Tomokiyo が解読、Cipher 3。Forbes p. 195）。その下端に、「Mr John Wod to Secretary Cecil, 6 Sept 1568」と表書きされた1行があり、なぞった署名が付いている。
02 1559年7月10日の手紙
鍵：Tomokiyo による Cipher 1 の再構成（DECODE R2988 の添付資料）に、次の修正を加えたもの：x と υ = i、y = f または h、z = m、ρ = d または t、∫t と上が平らな 6 = w、輪のある Q = be、ξ と点付きの q = your Majesty、語の中の重複した記号と ζ は冗字（ヌル）。コード語は角括弧で示し、[..] は解読できなかった記号を示す。
It may please [your Majesty] to be advertised that whereas I sent [letters] to the same by Maister Gray of the eight of [this] [month] [at] five of the clock [in] the afternoon, and [by] Carew [letters] of the same date written [at] midnight touching the [French King]’s state, I judge [your Majesty] will be desirous to be further enformed thereof. [..] convenient to put in to writing the whole discourse of [..] [which is known?] to [my] knowledge; of considering the present [..], [I judged it best?] to dispatch [this] gentleman, to whom [..] enforme the same [..] of the state [..] length, to whom it [may please your Majesty] to give credit. 等級（README の規約）：1–4行目は H。5–15行目は、鍵が文字を与える箇所は C、角括弧内の推測は M。5–15行目の約550記号のうち約470を確信をもって解読した。手紙が言及する8日付の2通の急報は CSP Foreign I nos. 947 と 950 である。運び手の名は、解読できた部分には出てこない。
03 f. 32 の余白のテキスト
記号ごとに転写した（margin_transcription.txt、第一段階）：222の符号群に約405の記号があり、基本形は約29（うち頻出22）、形と点の組み合わせは約80。符号群の平均は1.9記号で、106は単独の記号である。枠で囲まれた一つの符号群は4回現れ、おそらく名前である。左から右へ書かれ、「/」と「//」が節の区切りの印である。ヘブライ語ではなく、鏡文字や上下反転したラテン文字でもない。
語コード。各符号群を1語と見なすと、222トークンで異なり141、1回限りの語が113になる。Bain の目録から取った222語の区間で同じ尺度を取ると、中央値は140と107である（margin_stats.py）。英語を1文字ずつ暗号化したのなら、符号群は約4.3記号になり、単独の文字は少ないはずである。記号は点の位置によって値が変わる。Thomas Smith（1563年）の点付き文字の語コードや Cecil–Norris の表と同様である。トークンの51%は1回しか使われない記号で、それは暗号文だけからは決められないので、暗号文のみに基づくどんな方法でもテキストの半分には届かない。
おそらく何であるか。日付の行は「… 8 … 1559」と読め、手紙には Throckmorton が8日に2度書いたとある。余白はおそらく、7月8日付の急報（CSP Foreign I nos. 947、950：Lord Grey の身代金、フランス国王の熱病、スコットランドへの軍勢、Ruy Gomez、ジュネーヴにいる Arran、Anne du Bourg）の彼自身の控えである。目録には要約しかなく、原本（SP 70/5）は有料の State Papers Online にしかない。
04 John Wood からセシルへ、1568年9月6日（f. 33）
39記号、異なり16で、1568年7月に Moray が Wood に宛てた暗号の記号系統に属する（wood_line.txt）。Bain の CSP Scotland II no. 804 はハットフィールドの原本からこの手紙を印刷し、一つの句を暗号として示している：「and says he must neidis haif it be on meinis or uthir」。網羅的な照合（文字、冗字、音節記号、逆順、すべての部分文字列）は失敗する。HMC Salisbury I にはこの手紙の項目がない。
一意の解はない。ソルバー（焼きなまし法）で、Bain の目録の4-gram統計に対して1記号1文字の鍵を200のランダムな初期値から当てはめた。185が本物の39文字のテキストの中央値スコアを上回って終わり、92は互いに文字の3分の1以上が異なり、どれも無意味な文字列である（nonunique.py）。この1行はそれ自身のテキストでは決まらない。決着をつけられるのは、ハットフィールドの原本と、そこに解読が付いていればその解読だけである。
05 未解決の点
- 7月10日の手紙：12のコード記号（1k̲、ρ̲、g̲、δ̄、δ̲、ō、⊓̄、q̄、r̄、π̄、ƒ̇、ʋ̲）と [..] で示した区間。13行目に対応する、星印の付いた余白の注記。
- 余白：その鍵か、クリブとして使える解読箇所付きの SP 70/5 nos. 947 と 950 の写真が必要である。
- Wood の1行：ハットフィールドの Cecil Papers vol. 1 が必要である。
